Russian Ostrich Robot Costs Only $1,500 To Build

Russian Ostrich Robot Costs Only $1,500 To Build

Necessity is the mother of all invention, but what about building stuff just for fun, or out of interest as your hobby. I suppose enthusiasm as well as the constant striving to improve oneself is there in this bunch of Russians, who actually forked out around $1,500 in parts to construct this two-legged Ostrich robot from scratch. You can basically ride on this robot, and we do wish that it resembled more of a Chocobo than an ostrich for that added Final Fantasy element.

DeAGOSTINI - Robi - Charming Robot and member of the family that you can assemble by yourself

DeAGOSTINI - Robi - Charming Robot and member of the family that you can assemble by yourself

DeAGOSTINI Japan, a publisher that issues a weekly magazine specializing in collectable items, launched “Robi”, the friendly robot that wants to be part of the family. He can understand more than 200 words so he listens to you and talks to you and makes related gestures. He also can sit, stand, walk, dance, turn on the TV and change channels, and wink at you. Ask him to time your pasta. And should you take an umbrella with you today?

The robot looks like it will be fun for everyone in the family, and putting him together looks fun too. Robi is not for sale outright – every week a new piece of Robi is delivered.

Watch a 12-year-old girl lead police on car chase in the Carolinas

A young girl led police on a lengthy low-speed chase through South Carolina and into Charlotte, North Carolina Monday night. Police say the 12-year-old girl fought with her father earlier in the evening and slipped from their South Carolina home after he fell asleep. From there, the pre-teen stole a pickup truck from the local VFW parking lot with the intent of driving to a relative's house in Fort Mill. Officers originally spotted the girl thinking she was a drunk driver and a chase ensued.

Sony unveils new DriveClub racing game franchise for PS4

Sony held a big event last night where many thought it would debut its next-next-next-gen console system, the Playstation 4. As it turns out, Sony both did and didn't debut the PS4, choosing to keep the console's design a secret for now while premiering the new controller's look, a new Kinect-like camera peripheral and the machine's basic hardware specs. The other thing that got a lot of attention were games, one of which previewed during the event was DriveClub, a new racing game franchise by Evolution Studios that will launch with the PS4 this holiday season.

Android app spotlight : Friendcaster app for Facebook

Android app spotlight : Friendcaster app for Facebook

I'm not a big Facebook user, but these days it's a bit of a necessary evil. In my opinion, the official Facebook app for Android is nothing short of atrocious. It appears just to be a different interface to the mobile web site. Friendcaster is an alternative client that makes using Facebook just that little bit more bearable, especially on a tablet like the Nexus 7.
Down the left side is an access bar that allows you to easily go to groups, notifications, messages, or pages you belong to, amongst other things, and you can change the order depending on your needs. If you need the “real estate”, you can also hide this bar.

In New York, Sony had an event to talk about the new ideas they are working on and what we can expect in the future for PlayStation 4. Polaris patent reveals three-wheeled side-by-side 'Slingshot'

It seems as though recreational vehicle maker Polaris is taking steps toward the production of quite an interesting, three-wheeled vehicle. Documents filed with the US Patent Office have revealed schematics for a Polaris "reverse trike" – that's two wheels in front and one in back – with seating for a driver and a passenger. According to the logo dug up by The Kneeslider, this buddy bike might eventually be called the Polaris Slingshot.

Jeep Twitter account hacked, bad language, poor grammar and some hilarity ensue

Just a day after Burger King's Twitter account was compromised by "unauthorized users," Jeep's social media feed has been similarly hacked. Both instances of digital incursion share some similarities – the BK hackers changed the company's logo for McDonald's familiar golden arches, saying a sale had occurred, while the Jeep miscreants have replaced Jeep's branding with that of General Motors property Cadillac. The resulting tweets from the damaged Jeep account have been a pretty brutal, to put it bluntly.

Logitech TV Cam HD Review

Logitech TV Cam HD Review

The Logitech TV Cam HD brings Logitech into a market that is highly desired, but yet poorly served: Skype on the big screen. It is obvious that a lot of people would love using Skype on their TV, and the proliferation large and cheap LCD TVs only makes this idea more pervasive. Although many smart TVs now offer Skype as an integrated option, there are even more HDTVs out there that do not have the option. Given that TVs can be used for many years, it's unlikely that those people (probably you, since you are reading this) will upgrade their TVs just to video chat. That's where the Logitech TV Can HD comes into play.

EPA says it will more closely monitor fuel economy claims from automakers

EPA says it will more closely monitor fuel economy claims from automakers

The unintended acceleration brouhaha at Toyota led to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration tightening the vise on recall procedures. Likewise, the fuel economy kerfuffle that blew up with Hyundai and Kia's admission of overstated fuel mileage claims could lead to the Environmental Protection Agency policing automaker assertions by performing more audits. At least, that's what a senior engineer with the government agency said while in Michigan giving a talk, according to a report in Automotive News. What that actually means, however, is still in question.

The leaked PlayStation 4 prototype controller that we're seeing today looks more like the traditional DualShock controller all PlayStation owners have become accustomed to. Once again, there's a touchpad towards the top of the face of the controller where the Start, Select and PlayStation button were originally located on the PlayStation 3′s DualShock controller.

Tesla takes New York Times to task for damning Model S review

The social media tête-à-tête between the New York Times and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, stemming from a defamatory review by John Broder of the Model S and Tesla's new "Supercharger" network on the East Coast, is heating up in a major way. Just yesterday we summarized the Twitter spat, and now Musk has expanded upon the data recorded during Broder's test drive – adding major credence to the criticism of the NYT writer. The smoking gun in this case is the information that was captured by the data recorder in Broder's loaned Model S.
